Dead supercharged 1340 engine
Colleague is having HUGE problems with his Minisprint:
Basic engine spec:
1340cc completely new head, block crank etc
Supercharged using Hif44 carb on custom manifold
Electronic distributor
Long centre branch exhaust
Custom intake from supercharger engineer
Facet fuel pump with regulator (set up by supercharger engineer)
All installed in a fibreglass minisprint shell
Symptoms:
It ran for 150 miles & then died! Now it won't run for more than a few seconds.
Plugs 2&3 are very black, 1&4 are very wet. When it runs the exhaust pipes for 1&4 are cold when the siamesed 2&3 are warm.
So far tried:
Replacing carb for new one (original was a recon job)
Replacing dizzie with a mechanical one
Running without fuel pump connected (just a carb full of fuel)
Replacing plugs, plug leads, dizzie cap & rotor
engine earth lead to block
Problems found:
Gauge take off on supercharger left open - now capped
Despite all of this the engine just will not run for more than a few seconds (VERY badly).
Has anyone got any suggestions before he loses his remaining hair?
cheers,
